The Willcox has opened its new restaurant!

The Willcox, Aiken's landmark inn, has recently opened its new restaurant, The Restaurant at The Willcox, with Executive Chef Regan Browell, a native of New Zealand, at the helm.

The restaurant is open Monday-Saturday for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a brunch being served on Sundays from 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. and dinner from 5:00-10 p.m.

Also being offered at The Restaurant at The Willcox, for groups of 10 or more, is both morning and afternoon tea with a very tempting selection of sweets and pastries. This is the perfect venue to meet business clients in a relaxed setting and for ladies groups, bridal and baby showers and birthday celebrations to gather for tea and sweets in a comfortable setting right in the center of town.

This restaurant, with its delectable assortment of menu items, is a welcome addition to Aiken. Menus can be viewed on-line at the restaurant's website.

A Happy & Safe Labor Day Weekend to All

Now that Labor Day is upon us, I guess that means summer is officially at its end for 2009. Hard to believe - because it just flew by this year! While here in Aiken, we're certainly in store for many more weeks of summer-like weather, fall is, indeed, here.

This weekend, I will be in downtown Aiken checking out what is on offer at the various shops participating in the annual Labor Day Sidewalk Sale. It's always an enjoyable morning or afternoon strolling along Laurens, as well as the side streets, stopping in at the shops. Heading into the 3-day holiday, it's the perfect time while downtown to stop in at Cote Designs, say hello to Karin and her staff, and take home a colorful bunch of flowers to enjoy over the weekend!

For those more inclined to spend their Labor Day weekend just kicking back, there's no need to cook on Monday! Don't forget about the The 2nd Annual "A Hard Day at Labor" BBQ Cook-off
on Newberry Street - beginning at 11 a.m. and until 1 p.m.
(or until all the BBQ is gone!)

And there's no shortage of places here in Aiken to sit down, kick back and take time out to enjoy and savor the day!
